PUBLISHERS WEEKLY MAR 1, TenNapel's latest adventure comic for kids begins with the discovery of Benedict Arnold's whiny ghost hiding under a bed, and goes on to introduce readers to a host of other humorous and interesting characters, some historical, others very contemporary. Ghostopolis A Graphic Novel. Imagine Garth Hale's surprise when he's accidentally zapped to the spirit world by Frank Gallows, a washed-out ghost wrangler. Suddenly Garth finds he has powers the ghosts don't have, and he's stuck in a world run by the evil ruler of Ghostopolis, who would use Garth's newfound abilities to rule the ghostly kingdom. TenNapel is very talented when it comes to compelling characters, drawing style and world-building. His narrative structures and transitions are pretty clunky, but that just is what it is. This is a more traditional story (and more geared at a YA audience I believe) than his weirder stuff like Iron West and Gear.
