I had a lot of fun with this book, and I honestly think that Prince of Fools is an great introduction to Mark Lawrence's excellent writing, perhaps better than Prince of Thorns. The viewpoint character of Jalan is much more likeable than Jorg, especially on the outset, and even though he can be a coward, he also shows a lot of heroic tendencies/5(K).
As a big fan of Mark Lawrence I'd already bought two copies of this in hardback, so I was hoping it would pass muster! The original Broken Empire trilogy formed my favourite fantasy novels over the past couple of years, so obviously I was hoping for something of as high a standard. Due to this The Prince of Fools is a swift paced book.
